My dream is to see the closure of the economic gap between Black America and White America in my lifetime. This economic gap is enforced by our government and protected for the profit of the few.
During the decades of government backed Red Lining, we saw single-income working class families with basic labor jobs get a mortgage or a business loan. An arrangement often concluded with a handshake.
But those hands had to be white.
Before the abolition of slavery our country collected taxes on the sale of slaves. That money still exists in our federal reserves. That money needs to be given back to Black America.
I fully support the efforts of Black Lives Matter and any organization that helps the people that continue to be oppressed by this country and its government.
